Part III of the Peru Series!
After trekking our way to Machu Picchu, our travels took us to Lake Titicaca, then to Peru’s second largest city, Arequipa. Unfortunately, I was horrendously ill during our time in Puno (Lake Titicaca) so I really don’t have many pictures! We travelled to Arequipa, one of my favourite places in all of Peru! Most of the photos in this blog post are from the Monasterio de Santa Catelina – it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I could have wandered through the labyrinth for hours and hours!
From Arequipa, we took a bus to the Colca Canyon, the second deepest canyon in the world, where we did an overnight hike in and out of the canyon (without a guide!). Very challenging, but definitely worth it! Enjoy my point-and-shoot photos of the canyon – no way I was carrying more weight than necessary while hiking down and then back up switchbacks for 3000 metres! (The second to last photo shows some of the path we climbed!)
There is just one more part to my Peru series, covering our way up to Lima! Check back next week :)
