The Laird Family // Vancouver Family Photography

If you’re driving around town and spot a Kawasaki with a mini van in tow, chances are you’re driving next to the family of Pastor Dustin Laird. I arrived at the park to photograph this beautiful family, and noticed Dustin’s new bike, which he had rode out on earlier that afternoon to work on that weeks sermon during a sit in the park. How cool is that?

Dustin performed Dylan and my wedding ceremony. Over the course of our engagement, we got to know Dustin, Kim and their little girls quite well, and grew to be good friends. By the time we got married, we were happy to say that we were married by a good friend.

Dustin and Kim also have started a church called Redemption Community Church, that meets on Sunday nights in Surrey. If you are in the area, they’d love to have you stop by =)

We had such a nice time strolling about the park for these photos, and the girls were so much fun (and adorable)!

Jessica & Josh // Vancouver Wedding Photography

Early in May, Jessica & Josh were married in a lovely church in Coquitlam. This wedding was particularly special for me, since Jess and Josh have been good friends of me and Dylan’s for quite a few years. It’s always awesome to see a couple you’ve known for so long marry each other and even better when I get to be a part of it!

Jess & Josh also had their reception at the Diamond Alumni Centre , which is where Dylan and I had our reception! It was kind of neat to be there again, and I finally got to taste the food! It was sooo good (Dylan and I hardly ate anything at our reception).

This was such a lovely wedding, with lots of laughter, smiles and love all around! This wedding also officially features my favourite getting ready location to date! So thank you Jessica’s parents for having such a beautiful home =)

All the best of luck to Jess & Josh as they start their new married life in Toronto!

Spring Bridal Inspiration // A Flower Shop Styled Shoot

This April, I had the sincere pleasure of working with some really talented people to create my very first collaborative styled bridal shoot.

The inspiration for this shoot all started when I first visited Megan at her Vancouver Gastown flower shop, Olla Urban Flower Project . Not only was the flower shop a beautiful heritage space, with amazing floor to ceiling windows, exposed brick and ancient wood floors; Megan’s flower arrangements just blew me away. So original and beautiful. Not to mention Olla Flowers uses local/ethically traded/farm grown flowers, and gives back to the local community! Yeah, this girl is good.

We used some edwardian era elements in the flower shop to create a somewhat Modern Classic feel to the photos. I love the vintage buttons on the bouquets, the ornate mirror, the tea cup terrariums, and the super cute gold jewelry box.

The gorgeous gowns are from Pure Magnolia; stunning, and eco-friendly! Patty uses sustainable fabrics for her gowns, and I’m seriously in love with both these dresses! The Jewelry designed by Leah Alexandra perfectly complements the gowns. I love it when brides are creative with their wedding jewelry – don’t be afraid of colour!

A big thanks to Emily Cheng Makeup and Hair  for the amazing work she did on these girls, and to Laura Sugden for making the already beautiful set, even more perfect!

The lovely models Jennifer Walls and Kayla Anne Thomas captured my vision perfectly, and were so fun to work with!

And of course a big thanks to my husband, Dylan, who helped with anything I needed, and took some great behind the scenes photos that I will share soon!

All of these wonderful vendors and products are local to the Vancouver area, so a huge shout out to awesome Vancouver talent! Check them out!
